Venus Envy Advisor
The one and only Patrick Califia has agreed to be our sex and relationships oracle and answer questions submitted by visitors to our web site. We're taking questions as of right now; look for his weekly responses starting at the beginning of October.
Patrick is a well-known sex-radical activist, writer of cutting-edge erotica, and family therapist. He has been an advice columnist for both The Advocate and Girlfriends magazines.
If you've read his collected advice columns in The Advocate Adviser, or his trenchant personal/political essays in Public Sex, Sex Changes, or Speaking Sex to Power, you'll know that Patrick is well-informed about the vagaries of the human heart, the mysteries of the libido, and how to pursue your desires—whatever they may be—safely, responsibly, and passionately.

| October 23, 2004 For everyone | Hypoactive Sexual Desire - Wanting to Want |
| The lack of sexual desire, known clinically as hypoactive sexual desire
(HSD) is generally recognized as the most common sexual problem in North
America. Recent studies have shown that it affects almost 20% of men and
33% of women. There is no quick fix for HSD. The introduction of
Viagra and its kin has been a remedy for arousal, not desire, and offers
little comfort to a couple seeking to ignite and align the fires of
their desire. This workshop will present a perspective enabling participants to better understand sexual desire as it relates to: the couple's relationship, sexual satisfaction, personal preferences, and the asynchrony that occurs between partners. "Wanting to Want" is facilitated by Greg McCrea and Rosemary Gravelle; both are certified clinical sexologists working through the Limerence Centre for sexual and relationship therapy. For more information about Rosemary and Greg as well as the Limerance Centre please check www.limerencecentre.com. Please note that this workshop is for couples only. |
