Venus Envy Halifax is an education-oriented sex shop and book store located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay on top of what's happening at the store, including upcoming events, new products, and sales.
Our large book selection features feminist, queer, and generally left leaning books in many genres including literature, health and well-being, cook books, philosophy, cultural studies, development studies, abortion, violence and recovery, sexuality and gender issues, erotica, and many more. You will also find magazines and zines on such topics as trans and queer issues, bisexuality, body image, queer culture, feminist pop culture, sex, fetish, and more topics that are always changing and expanding.
We have a great and growing selection of adult toys and accessories, including vibrators and dildos, butt toys, ben wa balls, floggers, cuffs and collars, toys for boys, and DVDs. Our online catalogue contains but a fraction of what we offer in person. And hey, we've been voted Best Place to Buy Sex Toys in The Coast reader's poll every year since we opened (1998-2005).
We also sell art, massage oils and creams, menstrual products (including the Diva Cup), herbal teas, lube and condoms, and much more. We bring in products made by local craftspeople whenever possible, and display work by local artists on a rotating monthly basis.
We believe that one of the best ways to enjoy a healthy and erotic sex life is to be informed. To that end, we offer workshops on sex and relationships where people can ask questions and share their experiences in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Some of our workshops are for women only, most are for everyone. Our belief in the power of education has led to the creation of the Venus Envy Bursary Fund to support Nova Scotian women pursuing education at any level.
The University of Ottawa's Couple Research Lab is looking for participants for their online study on same-sex couple relationships! This study aims to better understand personal and relationship factors that contribute to well being and distress in same-sex couples.
To be eligible, you must be 18 years old or more, have a good knowledge of English and be in a same-sex couple relationship for at least 12 months. In order to thank you for your participation, you will be entered in a draw for gift certificates to a music store.
